Manni Group Supports the GEA EDU Educational Project on Sustainability

“GEA EDU - Ideas for the Future” is an educational project aimed at high school students to promote the dissemination of a culture of sustainability. Manni Group, which shares these values, has decided to support this initiative.

The "GEA EDU - Ideas for the Future" project, sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and ENEA, is carried out by the Educational WITHUB team with the technical contribution of the news agency GEA - Green Economy Agency, and promoted by the Fondazione Articolo 49. This non-profit organization was created to substantiate WITHUB’s corporate social responsibility goals and to give back to the community.

The educational program addresses the topics of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the 2030 Agenda and ecological transition, and is structured over three independent years, each delving into sustainable production and consumption, circular economy, and new green professions, respectively. Each annual course involves 40 hours of training (including lectures, role models, workshops, individual study, a final contest, and awards ceremony) and is conducted during school hours by civic education teachers. It also contributes to the acquisition of the educational credits necessary for students to take the final graduation exam.

The project was presented to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during an event at the Chamber of Deputies that highlighted the results of civic education projects in schools, which involved over 10,000 students across the country. The initiative received significant encouragement from the highest office of the State for its social value.

The second year of GEA EDU has just concluded: after covering sustainable production and consumption in the first school year (2022-2023), the focus of this second year was on circular economy, reuse, recycling, and waste management — the core principles underlying the ecological transition. Manni Group decided to support this important initiative, which aligns with its values, by participating as a partner company.

At the end of this second edition, which involved 1,860 students, 104 classes, and 49 schools across 17 Italian regions, a rewarding contest was held. The students put what they had learned back into circulation by writing articles on circular economy topics and Global Goal 13 on climate change, proposing their ideas for a real ecological transition. The three winning teams were awarded at an institutional event held at Europa Experience-David Sassoli, the multimedia space of the European Parliament in Rome.

Two representatives from Manni Group, Helen Scandellari, Business Sustainability Officer, and Alessandra Dorigotti, People Development & Talent Acquisition Manager, were part of the jury that evaluated the most deserving entries in the contest, along with other industry experts and partners involved in the initiative, including Federacciai, Co.Re.Ve., iN’s Mercato, Fondazione Alfaparf, Fassa Bortolo, Industrie Polieco, Verallia, and Q8.
